Trekking
The island of Ischia is renowned for its numerous thermal springs, its crystal clear sea, its particularly mild climate, its monuments that span the millennial history and for the various tourist attractions. It is also known as "Green Island" for the rich vegetation that characterises it, consisting of pine forests, chestnut groves, vineyards and Mediterranean scrub, all of which are of significant natural interest.
Above all this is the centrally located and dominant majestic Mount Epomeo, a tuff block that reaches the height of 789 meters above sea level and whose slopes are covered by numerous paths, a true delight for hikers and nature lovers. Along these trails, some also off the beaten track, a number of discoveries are waiting to be made. Of interest is the presence of the varied and lush local flora in addition to a number of particular geological conformations. Then there are the man-made works that recall the life habits of the island population over the centuries such as houses and cellars carved out of the tuff, vineyards terraced with dry stone created with extraordinary craftsmanship or ancient ditches to collect snow.
To describe everything in detail is practically impossible but on this island there is truly a great deal for those who practise this sport to see and discover. There are numerous challenging trails and each one always conceals enthralling surprises. Try following them alone or instead follow those paths made by the experts of the territory and that snake through a tangle of quaint pathways into the woods, forests and villages that, from a landscape, environmental and historical perspective, are of great importance. These include Il Cretaio, Buceto, Piano Liguori, Molara,Schiappone, San Pancrazio, Fonte di Nitrodi, Vatoliere, Maronti, Cava Scura, Zaro, Santa Maria al Monte, Punta Imperatore, Scannella, Falanga, Frassitelli, Pizzi Bianchi and the Hermitage of San Nicola sull’Epomeo.
Over the years we have had the pleasure of hosting several foreign and Italian groups that have come to the island to hike. The choice of our hotel is made for logistical reasons, as it is located on a beautiful panormaic hillside on the northern slope of mount Epomeo and for this reason it is considered the ideal base from which to set off for excursions. Another reason to stay at our hotel is the peace and quiet, the family atmosphere you can drink in and the helpfulness of the entire staff in meeting everyone's needs. The expectations of the groups have never been disappointed and they often return to experience the same emotions.
